# Moving from Classic Elephas to Elephas Next

> What changes when you move from classic Elephas to Elephas Next, what does and does not carry over, and how to bring your documents into the new app.

<Warning>
  Draft. This article depends on an open product question and is not ready to publish.
</Warning>

Elephas Next is a new app, built from the ground up. It is not an update to classic Elephas, and it does not replace it on your Mac. Your classic Elephas license, Super Brains and settings do not carry over. To use your documents in Elephas Next, you add the original files again.

## What's different

| | Classic Elephas | Elephas Next |
| - | - | - |
| Platforms | Mac, iPhone, iPad | Mac (Apple Silicon) and Windows |
| Main features | Super Command and Super Brains | Brains and Ask: ask your documents and get cited answers |
| Collections | Super Brains | Brains |
| Account | License key (Gumroad) | Elephas account, browser sign-in, no license key |
| Sync | iCloud | Personal Sync, end-to-end encrypted (Professional plan) |
| Help | [elephas.app/support](https://elephas.app/support) | This help center |

Super Command, iCloud sync and the iOS app belong to classic Elephas and are not part of Elephas Next.
