# Elephas Refund Policy

> How to ask for a refund on your Elephas plan, what to include in your request, and what a refund never does to the Brains, documents and chats on your computer.

<Warning>
  Draft. This article depends on an open product question and is not ready to publish.
</Warning>

We are finalizing the refund policy for Elephas plans. Until it is published here, email Elephas support and we will review your request.

## Before you start

* The [free trial](/docs/plans-and-billing/free-trial) needs no card, so there is nothing to refund for a trial.
* Note the email address on your Elephas account and the date of the payment.

## Steps

1. Email [support@elephas.app](mailto:support@elephas.app) from the email address on your Elephas account.
2. Include the date and amount of the payment, and your plan.
3. Support replies with the outcome.

If you also want to stop future payments, say so in the same email. See [cancel your subscription](/docs/plans-and-billing/cancel-subscription).

## How it works

* **Your data is never touched by a refund.** Your Brains, documents and chats stay on your computer. Elephas never deletes them because of a refund or billing change.
* **Refunds go back to the original payment method** through the payment provider.
