MindClaw Privacy Policy

MindClaw is local-first. Your data stays on your Mac.

Last updated: March 2026

The Short Version

  • All your agent data, memory, conversations, and files stay on your Mac
  • We do not collect, store, or have access to your agent data
  • API calls go directly from your Mac to your chosen AI provider
  • No telemetry, no analytics, no usage tracking from the app
  • API keys are stored in your macOS Keychain, encrypted by Apple

1. What Data MindClaw Stores

All MindClaw data is stored locally on your Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/MindClaw/. This includes:

  • Agent configurations — identity, skills, model settings, execution policies
  • Conversation history — all messages between you and your agents
  • Agent memory — long-term notes and daily logs agents maintain
  • Knowledge — learned procedures, corrections, preferences, environment facts
  • Reports — agent reports shown on your dashboard
  • Token usage records — how many tokens each agent has consumed
  • Search indexes — FTS5 keyword search indexes (can be deleted and rebuilt)

We never have access to this data. It exists only on your Mac. If you delete the app, you can delete this folder to remove all traces.

2. Network Calls MindClaw Makes

MindClaw makes the following network requests. There are no hidden or background connections:

AI Provider API Calls

When agents run, prompts and conversation context are sent directly from your Mac to the AI provider you configure (OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, or a local Ollama instance). We are not a proxy — these calls go straight from your machine to the provider's servers. The provider's privacy policy governs how they handle your data.

Telegram Relay (Optional)

If you enable Telegram integration, your messages are routed through a Cloudflare Worker relay operated by us. The relay forwards messages between Telegram and your Mac in real time. We do not store message content. Messages are forwarded and discarded. The relay stores only your pairing code and connection metadata.

License Validation

MindClaw periodically validates your license key with our licensing server (via Dodo Payments). This sends only your license key and a device instance ID. No agent data, usage patterns, or personal information is transmitted.

Update Checks

MindClaw checks for software updates via Sparkle. This sends your app version and macOS version to determine if an update is available. No personal data is included.

Agent Web Requests (User-Initiated)

When agents use the Browser or Network skills (e.g., checking a URL, fetching a webpage), those HTTP requests go directly from your Mac to the target server. These are actions you or your agent explicitly request — not background data collection.

3. API Key Storage

Your AI provider API keys are stored in the macOS Keychain, Apple's encrypted credential store. They are never written to plain text files, never transmitted to our servers, and never included in agent data exports. Only MindClaw can read them from the Keychain, and only when running on your Mac with your user session.

4. What We Do NOT Collect

MindClaw does not include any analytics, telemetry, or usage tracking. Specifically, we do not collect:

  • Your conversations, prompts, or agent outputs
  • Which agents you create or how you configure them
  • What files, calendars, or reminders your agents access
  • How often you use the app or which features you use
  • Crash reports (unless you explicitly choose to send them)
  • Your IP address, location, or device fingerprint
  • Token usage amounts or AI provider choices

5. Website vs. Application

This website (elephas.app) uses standard analytics (Google Analytics, Plausible) and cookies as described in the Elephas Privacy Policy.

The MindClaw application installed on your Mac does not use any of these analytics services. The app and the website are completely separate in terms of data collection.

6. macOS Permissions

MindClaw requests macOS permissions only when agents need specific capabilities. Each permission can be enabled or disabled per agent:

Calendar & Reminders

Read and create events and tasks

Files & Folders

Read/write in allowed directories

Clipboard

Read clipboard when you ask

Shell

Run commands you approve

Notifications

Agent reports and alerts

Network

Fetch URLs and extract content

You control which skills each agent has access to. Disabling a skill for an agent completely prevents it from using that capability, regardless of what the AI model requests.

7. Deleting Your Data

Since all data is stored locally on your Mac, you have full control:

  • Delete an agent — removes its folder from Application Support (memory, conversations, knowledge, config)
  • Delete all data — remove ~/Library/Application Support/MindClaw/
  • Reset first-launch state — run defaults delete com.kamban.mindclaw
  • Remove API keys — delete from macOS Keychain via Keychain Access app

There is nothing to delete on our servers because we never had your data in the first place.

8. Children's Privacy

MindClaw is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the Software or via email. The latest version will always be available at this URL.
