Your documents stay with you

Your documents stay stored on your computer. The search index and your chats are kept in an encrypted database. Search is built on your computer. If you turn on sync on Professional or Team, your files travel between computers encrypted and are decrypted only on them.

Personal details hidden first

Before a question leaves your computer, Elephas hides personal details such as names, email addresses, and phone numbers, then puts them back in the answer. You can see what was hidden under every answer.

You choose where answers are generated

Elephas AI is included and ready when you install. On Personal and Professional you can also use your own API key, or a model that runs on your computer. Team plans use Elephas AI, and the owner can also allow the on-computer model.

Answers you can check

Every answer cites your files. Open a source to see the quoted passage and the page, slide, sheet, or paragraph it came from. Not another chatbot guessing from the internet.

Pricing questions

What is "included AI usage"?
Each plan includes a monthly amount of Elephas AI. Most people do not reach it. It resets every month and does not roll over.
What if I use it all?
On Personal and Professional you can keep asking with your own API key or the on-computer model. Team usage is pooled across all seats.
What is the difference between Personal and Professional?
The features are the same. Professional doubles the included AI usage, works on three computers, and adds optional end-to-end encrypted sync between them.
What happens to my files when I turn on sync?
Sync is off until you turn it on, and it is part of Professional and Team. Your files are encrypted on your computer before they are uploaded. Your other computers download them, decrypt them, and build their own search index. In a Team Brain, files are decrypted only on the computers of the people the Brain is shared with. Your chats sync only to your own computers. Our servers hold only encrypted data that we cannot read.
How does Team billing work?
You pay per person. The owner counts as one seat, and an invitation holds a seat until it is accepted or withdrawn.
Is there a free trial for teams?
The free trial is for one person on one computer. Try Elephas yourself first, then set up your team.
What happens after the trial?
Nothing is charged. Your Brains, files, and past chats stay on your computer. To keep asking questions, choose a plan.
How do I change or cancel my plan?
Contact support and we will sort it out. Email support@elephas.app.
How do I pay?
Checkout is handled securely in your browser by our payment partner. Prices are in US dollars and taxes are shown before you pay.
I bought the earlier Elephas app. Does my licence carry over?
The new Elephas is a separate app with its own account and plans, and it does not use licence keys. Your current app and licence keep working. Details for existing customers.
