Elephas

Common Issues

Solutions for the most frequently reported issues with Elephas: Super Command not working, slow AI, missing citations, billing, and permissions.

Super Command does not appear

If pressing Ctrl + Space does not open Super Command:

  • Check that Elephas is running (look for the icon in your menu bar)
  • Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and make sure Elephas is enabled
  • Check if another app is using the same keyboard shortcut. Try changing the shortcut in Elephas Settings
  • Restart Elephas

AI responses are slow

  • Offline AI: Larger models take longer to respond. Try a smaller model in Settings
  • Cloud AI: Response time depends on the AI provider and your internet connection. Check your connection
  • Large workspaces with many documents may take slightly longer for the initial search step

Elephas is not citing my documents

  • Make sure the relevant documents are indexed in the workspace you are querying
  • Check that indexing completed (look for a green status indicator next to each file)
  • Your question may not match the content of your documents. Try rephrasing

App crashes or freezes

  • Make sure you are running the latest version of Elephas
  • Restart the app. If the issue persists, try removing and re-adding the problematic workspace
  • Contact support via the in-app Crisp chat or email if the issue continues

Subscription and billing

  • Upgrading your plan: Open Elephas Settings > Account to manage your subscription tier
  • "You exceeded your current quota": You have reached the usage limit for your plan. Upgrade to a higher tier or wait for the next billing cycle
  • Canceling: If you purchased through the App Store, manage your subscription in System Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. For direct purchases, email support@elephas.app

Permissions and automation errors

  • "Cannot send Apple Events": Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Automation and enable Elephas for the relevant apps
  • "Elephas can't control app": Same fix. Elephas needs Automation permission to interact with other apps via Super Command
  • Accessibility permission: Required for Super Command. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility and enable Elephas
  • Allow JavaScript from Apple Events: If using Elephas with Safari, enable this in Safari > Develop menu > Allow JavaScript from Apple Events
