Agents and Workflows
Automate multi-step tasks with Elephas agents: diagrams, file operations, web research, presentations, and more.
Workflows and agents (Beta)
Elephas Workflows let you perform multi-step actions using AI agents. Each workflow can contain one or more agents, and each agent can use one tool. For example, Super Brain is a tool that contains actions like semantic search across your brain or specific files.
Workflows are currently a beta feature.
Built-in workflows
Elephas comes with built-in workflows for common use cases:
- Summarizing brain files
- Finding files that talk about a specific topic
- Web search
- Drawing mind maps, Gantt charts, and timeline charts
Accessing workflows
Click the workflow icon in Elephas to access workflows. You can:
- Create a new workflow
- Browse the dynamic workflow library
Triggering a workflow from Super Chat
You trigger workflows from Super Chat by typing the @ symbol followed by the workflow name. For example, to summarize files in your brain, type @Summarize and select the workflow from the suggestions.
Step 1: Filter your files (optional)
If you want the workflow to act on specific files, click the Filter icon on the left of the chat text editor, select the files you want to include, then click Apply.
Step 2: Trigger the workflow
- In the chat input, type
@followed by the workflow name (e.g.,@Summarize) - Select the workflow from the dropdown
- Click the send button to run the workflow
- Elephas executes the workflow and shows the result in chat
Workflow tools
Workflows can use various tools to accomplish tasks:
- Super Brain: semantic search and read your indexed documents
- Web search: search the internet for current information
- File System: both read input files and write output to a destination folder you choose
- Diagrams: Mindmap, Flowchart, Graph, Sequence, Gantt, Class, State, ER, Pie, Timeline, Quadrant, Git Graph, and Journey. A diagram step can run on the previous chat result or be embedded in a larger workflow
- PDF Form Fill: takes text or a file input and uses AI to fill a PDF form's fields for you to review
- Presentations: create Keynote presentations
- Export: save the result as PDF, Markdown, Keynote, or Text file
- API: make GET or POST HTTP requests to an API URL, combinable with other tools
- YouTube: analyze video transcripts (e.g. extract key points from a podcast, compare episodes)
- Audio: use voice input as a step, so you can run a workflow without typing
Agentic Mode
Agentic Mode lets the AI automatically choose and use the right tools from a single prompt — no manual workflow setup. Enable it per-chat with the Agentic button in Super Chat, or globally in Preferences > General (toggle Agentic Mode by default).
Triggering a workflow from Super Command
Workflows also run system-wide via Super Command, on any app or selected content: select (or copy) the text you want to act on, open Super Command, and choose the workflow — no need to open Super Chat.
Creating presentations
Ask Super Chat to create a presentation, then click the export icon beside the typing area and choose Keynote > Export. Elephas opens Keynote and builds the slides in about 15–20 seconds; you can edit them afterward. To turn a PDF into slides, import the Keynote Generation workflow from the library, open the default Super Chat, attach the PDF, and run it.
Custom workflows
You can create your own workflows by chaining agents and tools together. For example, a “post in my voice” workflow:
- Add a Super Brain agent tool and choose your Brain
- Add an AI tool agent with instructions (e.g. “create a LinkedIn post”)
- Add a Tone tool and select your saved tone so the output sounds like you
Other handy starters from the library: a YouTube workflow (select the YouTube tool, give a video URL, extract key points) and a web searchworkflow (type @ in Super Chat and pick web search). Customize any workflow with system instructions to tailor the output.
